IDEOLOGY VINEYARDS

Oak Knoll District, Napa Valley

Our Estate vineyard is situated between the towns of Napa and Yountville on Hwy 29. Our property was originally founded in 1967 as a walnut orchard. The Newlan family replanted the orchard to carefully selected Cabernet Sauvignon clones, the fruit of which was sold to Clos du Val, Inglenook and later, to Robert Mondavi, which was used in their Reserve. The land itself proved to be ideal for producing grapes that made intense yet lush wines. Although our vineyard is focused on Cabernet Sauvignon, we have a very small planting of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, adding complexity to our wines.

Our vineyard is bordered on the north by Dry Creek, which has left its legacy by distributing sandy and gravelly soil throughout the vineyard. These soils, partnered with the microclimate in this particular part of the Oak Knoll District, translate into ideal growing conditions for the fruit, yielding deep, concentrated and intense flavors in the wine. This paired with our four different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon allow us to create wines that have depth and multiple complexities.

Red Hen Vineyard

Oak Knoll District, Napa Valley

Our Chardonnay comes from the Red Hen Vineyard that is just South of our Estate vineyard between the towns of Napa and Yountville on Hwy 29. The Sees Chardonnay clone, used exclusively here, is perfect for the climate and soil in this vineyard, creating wines with delicate floral components while having rich full bodied structure.

Boriolo Vineyard

Russian River Valley

The Boriolo Vineyard is located in the Russian River Appellation . Purchased in 1972 by Jack and Anne Boriolo, the vineyard was originally a home to quarter horses. Today, the vineyard has approximately twenty-five planted acres, five of which are planted to Pinot Noir, the remainder to Chardonnay.

Planted on top of a knoll, the Boriolo Vineyard is ideal for growing both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals. The knoll keeps the climate cool for the vines, yet protects the delicate fruit from frost that may make its way to the valley during the colder months. We have been fortunate to enjoy the fruit from the Boriolo Vineyard.

Hardman Vineyard

Napa Valley

Our Merlot vineyard, the Hardman Vineyard, is located in the eastern portion of the Napa Valley just north of the city of Napa. The vineyard sits on the north side of Hardman Lane. Early soil analysis revealed a layer of clay under the fertile top soil. The appropriate root stock was selected for these soil conditions. The south facing slope allows for great drainage thus helping to create naturally balanced vines. This vineyard produces a smooth and fruity Merlot.
