Winemaking – In the tradition that has become Blondie, which is all about revealing that sassy, flirty attitude and lively varietal character of Chardonnay, our winemaker used a very light hand in crafting the wine. The grapes were hand harvested and carefully sorted in the cool of the morning. The whole clusters were gently pressed to release the delicate juice without picking up any hint of astringency from the skins or stems. The juice was fermented slowly, at low temperatures to retain fresh, fruity flavors. A portion of the wine went through malolactic fermentation, adding depth, creamy complexity and building a voluptuous middle body. Blondie took her time, mellowing just a bit – not too much - while gaining finesse and developing a satisfying, lengthy finish over nine months in stainless steel tanks and neutral barrels.
Tasting – Blondie hails from the Suscol Creek vineyards nestled in the hills just south of Napa. She’ll tease your nose with a vibrant bouquet of fruity and floral aromas: Fresh, crisp Red Delicious and Fuji apples, with a hint of fresh pear. The first sensation on the palate is one of taking a bite of a Bartlett pear piggy backed with crisp apple and lemon zest. Smooth and creamy with balanced acidity that keeps you coming back for more. Enjoy!
