The 2014 vintage is being described by winemakers as a vintage of “quality,” “depth of flavor” and “excellent”, not to mention a vintage with “perfect weather,” “abundant crop” and “good fortune”. This was the perfect vintage for our winemaker to complete from start to finish for Ideology Cellars.
A difficult grape to grow, this native of the Burgundy region of France achieves greatness in only a handful of places worldwide, and the Russian River Valley is one of those places. Russian River Valley’s Pinot-perfect climate combined with an amazing complexity of soil types, results in wines that reflect their individual sites but share a common thread.
The 2014 three clone Reserve Pinot was gently pressed and transferred to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and nine months of sur-lie aging for seamless integration of fruit and oak. 100% un-fined and un-filtered.
Dazzling dark purple in the glass.. Black cherry and berry aromas reminiscent of grandmother’s pie filling waft up the nose. Opulent and super rich in the mouth, patient French oak aging brings out its plush core of bright black cherry, red berry and sassafras cola laced with wild cherry and complex spices.
